I feel privileged to have been a Certified Infant Massage Instructor since 2010 and I have taught this course to parents in health care settings, in community settings and in people's homes. I have a long background as a Midwife, School Nurse and Health Visitor and now also teach pregnancy yoga, postnatal yoga and I am a Baby Mindful Coach. I am always in wonder at the benefits baby massage brings to babies, parents and families.

Baby Massage is so much more than simply learning massage strokes for your baby - Baby Massage is an interaction; a gentle communication through nurturing touch, eye contact and voice that is built up slowly and in synchrony with your baby over time through observation, asking permission, reading and responding to cues, touch communication and finally completion. When this dialogue and atunement between parent and baby is established the benefits of baby massage can really start flowing, including:

For Baby:
Helping your baby to feel loved and securely attached,
Reducing crying and emotional distress,
Increased levels of relaxation and longer sleep,
Development of body awareness and coordination,
Relief from wind, colic, constipation and teething discomfort.

For you:
Feeling closer to your baby,
Gaining a deeper understanding of your baby's behaviour, crying and body language,
Providing an enjoyable opportunity to spend one-to-one time with your baby, Feeling the relaxing effects of giving your baby massage,
Developing a lifelong parenting skill.

Extended benefits: The benefits from this attunement and nurturing touch with our babies won't stop there though, they an extend into calming, reducing cortisol levels, boosting immunity, promoting brain development, supporting language and learning, increased social and emotional resilience as adults and so much more... this really is a lifelong parenting skill with lifelong benefits!
Baby Massage is a baby-led interaction built up slowly over 5 weeks.
During the courses I facilitate a quiet and nurturing space so that the baby led interaction, that is unique to each baby and their parent can be built up slowly over week by week to promote confidence, empowerment and atunement and all the benefits that come with this.

The baby-led approach benefits our babies and empowers us as the experts of our children. The International Association of Infant Massage sets world class standard with its teachings and trainings promoting nurturing touch and contributing to research for parent-child relationships.

Courses run for 6 weeks or longer, each class being up to 90 minutes and the classes have a maximum of 9 babies. Every week you will learn to massage a new body part, building your skill and confidence week by week. Practice a little at home and you and your baby quickly discover the enjoyment, fun and other benefits that come with baby massage. Some of the many benefits include improved sleep for all, deeper understanding of your baby's communication and increased confidence for you as a parent.
Over refreshments there's opportunity to share the joys and challenges of being a new parent, with friends old and new.
There is no need to worry about your baby needing to feed, cry or sleep in class - all baby's moods and noises are welcomed during baby massage classes.
